Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 3D makin' da money...
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace 3D showed that it still has box office power. The film's 3D re-release scored $1.1 million in midnight showings on Friday. The film previewed last night in 1,300 theaters and hit 2,635 theaters this morning.
Also doing midnight shows was The Vow, which brought in $700,000.
Dont give this fat fuck encouragement by seeing the biggest disappointing moving in the history of mankind. By fat fuck, i mean lucas.

Is that a lot? I don't really have a frame of reference, the article only indicates that it probably wouldn't make as much as Lion King 3D but it doesn't give me that movie's midnight showing numbers or rank the total either.
Anyway if it IS a lot, it makes it funny how Star Wars nerds constantly complain about the new movies but then go blow their money on it anyway.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Lucas really wants to make way more money again, he needs to re-do the ENTIRE series starting from Episode I, and change the story heavily so that it has better pacing and makes more sense.
The nerds would throw tantrums but they'd watch it multiple times and buy the dvds anyway. And for the rest of us maybe the movies would actually be as good as the nerds hype them to be.

Jar Jar Binx in 3D?? Thats all we fucking need! Episode 1 killed the franchise for me the first time round, I'll strick with the original trilogy.

A million dollars really isn't that much money now that tickets to 3D movies cost like 27 bucks each.
Also, who's going to see The fucking Vow at Midnight? You can't wait until the daytime to see that?

HAHAHAHA
I Guess Lucas' strategy of making Star wars kiddie and appealing to a family friendly movie is bringing in the BIG BUCKS!
And THAT'S what is important. No need to please the hardcore fans. They'll buy your shit anyway.
KIDS IS WHERE THE MONEY IS AT!

For all those who hate Lucas and the prequels, this is great news. A 3D movie usually runs around $15. 1,100,000 divided by 15 = 73,333. this means it's likely that less that 75,000 people went to see it. That doesn't sound all that impressive to me.
